Born in 1950, Retired as Assistant General Manager from Reserve Bank of India. Alumni at the Photographic Association of Dum Dum during 1978 to 1981. Holds the distinction of having around 500 National and International Acceptances to his credit. Honorary Lecturer (1982 to 1998) in Photographic Courses run by Photographic Association of Dum Dum, Calcutta. Has to his credit several articles on Photography – published in various journals of Photography. Interviewed by Door Darshan for his views on Pictorial Photography. Delivered talks on Photographic Art at various Photographic Associations in India. Co-author of books ‘Learn Photography’ and ‘Experimental Photography’ published by Photographic Association of Dum Dum, Calcutta. Has been acting as a Member of Jury in many National & International Salons and Photo Contests since 1987.
Awards:-- Conferred the Distinction “Fellow” in Photography by The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain in 1987.
- Conferred the Distinction “Excellence” in Pictorial Photography by The International Federation of Photographic Arts & Sciences (FIAP), Belgium in 1992.
- Recipient of Prizes and Honor Mentions in Photographic Contests organized by Moscow Photo Contest – USSR, ACCU Award – UNESCO, Japan, Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi and Photo Division, Government of India.
- Winner of Best Award of ‘All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society’ in 1999.
- Four times winner of ‘Best Indian Entrant Award’ from International Salons in India.
- First Indian to be awarded the 1st Prize at “Photo Journalist of the Year” Contest in 1989 sponsored by the Photographic Society of America, USA.
- Winner of several Awards (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Pewter Medals), Plaques and Certificate of Merit / FIAP Honor Mentions from various International Photographic Salons from India, China, France, England, Russia, USA, Romania, Hungary, South Africa, Spain, Singapore, Taiwan, Pakistan, Belgium, Luxembourg, Bangladesh, Korea and National Salons in India.
- Organised First Indo-Pakistan “DOSTI – a Photo Show” at Chandigarh in November 2004 (under the banner of Friends of Photography) to promote friendship between the people of India and Pakistan through the medium of Photographic Art. The show exhibited Photographs of Pakistani and Indian Photo Artists.
- Chief Coordinator of All India Photographic Convention organized by Federation of Indian Photography at Chandigarh in 1998.
- Founder President of ‘Friends of Photography’ a Cultural Organisation founded in 1999 at Chandigarh. The Organisation had organized five Photographic Exhibitions at Chandigarh during 2000 to 2005.
- Member Organizing Committee of four International Photographic Conferences sponsored by Photographic Association of Dum Dum, Calcutta from 1986 to 1998.
- Associate Editor of ‘VIEWFINDER’, the official monthly journal of the Federation of Indian Photography from 1997 to 2001.
- Honored as one of the six Indian Pictorialists, invited by the Photographic Society of Pakistan to contribute photographs to the Exhibition of “Tribute to the Legends of Photography” held in Pakistan in June 2005.
